Smooth Moves

While the blog was a great idea back when I started it (however many months ago that was) there truthfully was not enough going that I could write about. I mean sure, I could have done more writeups on educational topics, but adding "informational copy writer" to the other two jobs I was working on the time just did not feel feasible with the time and energy I was already working hard to balance.

Well, this is no longer the case.

Happy New Year Smooth Coffee lovers, buckle in. It's time to get down to business.

This week in Smooth Coffee News...

T-??? Days to Launch

The day to officially launch this business is approaching much, much faster than I anticipated. After years of ideating and months of slow build up, we are suddenly in an era of bona fide WERK. Here's a quick recap of what the past month has entailed:

1) All of the foundational coffee offerings have been selected and ordered.

2) Final decisions have been made for Smooth Coffee's sustainable and reusable packaging. Order goes out today.

3) I hosted Smooth Coffee's first official private coffee tasting. This helped to solidify the decision to make regular coffee tasting events an integral part of Smooth Coffee's services.

4) I began constructing the first iteration of the Smooth Coffee website.

5) Tasted just shy of 100 sample roasts and learned a TON about modulating the flavor of coffee.

6) Didn't completely lose my marbles over the holidays.

7) Got linked up with my first ever business advisor (thank you Brad!!!) and brought my dad on as a full blown partner in the business (thank you Dad!!!).

There's so many more things that have been buried in my brain from the rush of it all. But I'm stoked to see and feel movement in the business and cannot wait to continue diving into it the next months.

Which brings me back to the point of this section: while there are a few more loose ends to tie up before making the official announcement, we are a matter of months away from the official launch of Smooth Coffee Co. And not that many months. If for any reason specialty coffee gets you excited, or new businesses do, or if for some reason I do, then it's time to start getting excited. And if you're feeling excited then I have a favor to ask of you.

City Council Hearing

One of those loose ends I mentioned is the last major roadblock in the process of starting a business. Next week Smooth Coffee Co. is going in front of Sand City's City Council to receive final conditional approval for operation. This is the only time someone has the power to say "no" to the business coming to life and, while a "no" is unlikely, one of the best ways to help a new business that you want to see succeed is to show up in support of that business at their City Council hearing.

Smooth Coffee's City Council Hearing is:

Tuesday January 21st @5:30pm

Sand City City Hall

1 Pendergrass Way, Sand City, CA 93955

You can also join in via Zoom and I will be posting the link to that Zoom meeting once it is announced.

Anyone who is taking the time to read this, thank you so much for the support you've given me and my business dreams so far. If you are available and have the desire to support in a very concrete, real way, then this is one of the number one ways to do so. Thank you for considering.

Back to the Grind

And that's all for now folks. I'm going to be posting here and on Instagram as there are things worth talking about in the development of Smooth Coffee Co. Thanks for reading and I'll catch y'all soon.

With love,
Noah
